Wesley Costanzo

VICTORIAN WINNER OF THE 2007 HILL'S SCIENCE PET SLIMMER OF THE YEAR

We are pleased to hear that one of our very own patients had been awarded the 2007 Victorian Pet Slimmer of the Year.

"Wesley" is a 4 year old Pug x Jack Russell. At only 15 months of age he was a whooping 11.2kg, almost 20% over ideal body weight. As the next year went by his weight continued to creep up and when he reached 13.15kg, at only 3 years of age, it was time to intervene and help "Wesley" get back on track.

"Wesley's" original diet consisted of dog food and chicken thighs. Combined with lack of proper exercise led him to excessive weight. When "Wesley" did go out to play with other dogs, he had to rest more and couldn't keep up with his pals. He was at risk of hurting his legs and back and eventually could develop early arthritis or even heart disease.

Starting weight (23rd June 2006) - 13.15kg

Thanks to the Hill's Science prescription range, we were able to start "Wesley" on a low-calorie, high-fibre dry food Hill's r/d. With a lot of dedication by his owner, Gianna, and a lot more walks, "Wesley" went from a podgy, puffed out pooch to a trim, energetic dog.

Finishing weight (15th June 2007) - 8.86kg

Percentage body weight loss - 32.5%

Well done Wesley!!
